Bluebonnet Inn

LP has moved into a house with 3 other boys. these boys are a pretty fun crew, and decided to turn the garage behind their house into a "bar." it's called the bluebonnet inn (tribute to their texas roots) and it could possibly be the most awesome thing anyone has ever done to their garage. it's filled with memorabilia from all the roomates, from ut flags to texas license plates to neon beer signs. it's got so much going that i decided to capture some of it's, um, charm on film the other day. now i think my picture skills are getting better, but the more pictures i take, the more i think i need a better lens. just saying.

texas armadillo on the ledge!
one roomie is an aggie, the other 3 are horn fans. it makes for interesting signs in the inn!!!

this is what greets people on the door

i got bored taking just pictures of the BBI so i moved on to the outside

firepit is a must for cooler weather!
but, they need to remember to clean it!

KO painted this wonderful mural on the garage door

notice the bottom says bluebonnet inn!

mini sized, eh?

this saturday, lp and went to his house and his roomate jj was cleaning up for people to come over that evening to watch the game. i absolutely love cleaning, so i was all about helping! we swept out the bluebonnet, wiped all surfaces and even sprayed the rug down (ps- super gross!). i was kind of into my picture taking and wanted to work on my people picture taking so i went with it. lp got a little irritated but i explained that i would only take pictures for a little while, so he was happier after that!

jj looks like he's giving me the model pose!

awww, lp was trying to tolerate having his picture taken!
i like the difference between the picture above and the one below. one is focused on the person in the foreground and the other is focused on the setting in the background and i really like the two looks.

Meganisms

I used to work with some really awesome people who thought what I said was so random and funny that they called them "Meganisms" and I thought I'd share a little bit of how my brain works. not because you guys probably haven't heard them already, but just because i'm bored and thought of some.

1. when i calculate a weekend, i only count the days in between. for example, this morning it was wednesday so there was only one day until the weekend. see, once you wake up today doesn't count and then friday actually IS the weekend, so only thursday counts. one day.

2. man panties = manties

3. i really hate discussing having an upset tummy, so i like to call it a grumpy. because your tummy is so mad at you that it hurts you.

4. i sing things rather than saying them. the kids i work with have told me i'm silly, weird and the "most hyper adult" they've ever met. LP laughs at my little songs. other people think i'm joking. but actually, i just like making up little songs. ps- they are really stupid, like, the other day i made up a song about walking to the metro and eating french toast.

5. sometimes, i think people need a bit of overacting so i will throw out some dramatics and exaggerate how i say things or fall down or say things really loud. drama doesn't have to always be bad or mean, sometimes it can be hilarious drama.

Crabulous!

This weekend LP's sister and her hubby came to visit us! We didn't have a whole lot planned, but it ended up being a busy weekend somehow! Friday, we all went to dinner and then went to see a band called the Fruit Bats. They are a side project of some of the guys in The Shins, and they were pretty good! After a few songs, they all switched instruments so there were different guys singing and playing guitar and drums throughout the show.

Saturday we were going to try to go to the Smithsonian Museum of American History because LP's brother-in-law had a grandfather who is now in the museum as part of the martime exhibit. Super cool, right? So, we headed down there but it was way too crazy for us (we'll get into that later) so off to crab time! We went to Annapolis, MD to try out a place we'd heard about called Cantler's.

Sitting at our table. Note the bucket to throw our crab guts in to!! Gross!!

Here come the crabs!!

This was some of the best corn ever!
Aftermath of the massacre

After my first crab, I decided that crabs are still not really my thing. All that work and you have to touch their guts and lungs and all that just grossed me out so I ordered crab cakes. They were sooooooo good! You can see one in the bottom of this pic.

When we left, we decided to check out the Naval Academy on the way home. It was pretty cool but they're not really accessible so we couldn't get in and see the campus too well. We went home with the intention to go to the exhibit now. See, the problem with when we tried to go earlier was that there was this wonderful health care rally. It was super. Please read with lots of sarcasm. This rally was all white people (seriously, all white) holding these ridiculous signs about freedom and don't tread on me and other crazy comments. I won't go into my rant about how absolutely stupid it is to make comments referring to leaving our messed up health care system as it is, but I will leave it at I almost attempted to run one of them over and see what they thought about the cost of their health care then. Here was one group of them. Note that the one in the middle will probably be the first one to experience how expensive his cost of healthcare is.

Afterwards, we went to LP's house and watched some college football!!! Fun. Today we got up and went to a fabulous brunch at this place called Tabard Inn. So yummy! We eventually ended up here to have an afternoon cocktail and watch the water:

All in all, it was a wonderful weekend and having LP's sister and her husband around is always a great time!!

Hey girl hey!

I've returned to my bad blogging ways- I apologize! Lots has happened since I last blogged, but I'm only going to talk about 3 things:

1. My job- I'm starting to get more kids, but for real, half a paycheck that I then have to take a third out of for taxes will not cut it. So, everyone wish kids my way. I need like 12 more kids to make my finances work for my life here. That's a lot, but I need them! If they don't come my way soon I told LP that I was going to go to playgrounds and listen for kids that had speech problems. When I found them, I would run up, thrust a card at them and tell them, "Give this to your mom, honey." LP said that I would probably have the cops called on me and I would have to tell them, "I swear, I'm not kidnapping kids, I'm trying to help them!!!" as they dragged me to jail. Speaking of LP...

2. He's back! Hooray! He got back last Friday night and we had a nice weekend. Sunday, I helped him move, which was not as bad as it sounds. I'm thinking that with all the moving I've been doing lately, I may have a side business on my hands if I don't get those kids I need! Ha ha!

3. This weekend, I will finally get my pictures and mirrors on my walls! Yes, folks, that's what LP and I will be doing- hanging stuff in my apartment. I haven't been able to do it yet because my walls are concrete and I've bent three nails so far trying to get them in. It's so exciting, I know, but I think maybe next weekend we're going to meet LP's sister and husband in Maryland or somewhere fun, so we decided to take an easy weekend.

Hope everyone has a fun and safe Labor Day (long) weekend!!!
