When Megan went to SF Gay Pride

This weekend was Gay Pride here in San Francisco and I was SUPER excited to go check it out. I mean, it's supposed to be one of the biggest Pride celebrations and here I was, sitting around SF looking for something to do. So Mike, K, LP and I decided to head out and see what the parade was all about. We got on a streetcar that was specifically for the parade. It said "Shuttle." LP and I did not really know exactly where the parade was so we ended up getting off a little early (oops!) and walked down Market until we saw........everyone.

We tried to get a little closer to the parade, but let me tell you, it was PACKED. We were about as close as we could get and that was about 3 people deep!

Man on stilts in glitter pants!!!

There was a lot of Jewish pride going on when we showed up. It was cute!

This girl had a pretty outfit on!!

Yes, some of them are men and some are women. Can you spot the difference?

I LOVED this guy's hat. It was so festive and purple and felty.

I couldn't get a good picture of this because it was sooooo far away, but on the hill is a big, pink triangle. LP watched them roll it out and thought it was a slip n slide. Apparently, he was wrong.
After we got tired of straining to see the parade, we decided to check out the festival. I had no clue that there was a festival to go with this parade but it was happening Saturday and Sunday, so we decided to see what it was all about. Let me tell you what it was all about: AWESOMENESS.

This was an average outfit for the festival. Minimal clothing.

View as we were walking down one of the streets. Yes, it was many streets long.

Ladies were LOVING this guy. He was clearly loving his body.

And Kalinda!!!

LP said these guys were wearing the actual Navy uniform tops. I'm not so sure about the glitter belt or the shorts........
I had no clue what this was as I approached from behind.....................

Oh, I get it now!!!!
One is a girl and one is a boy. Can you guess which is which?

Pride Princesses! Our rainbow wristbands combined to form an awesome time!!!!

Even the beer taps were rainbow! And were shaped like men's bodies.

We finally decided that after 2 hours or so, we should head home to where beers were cheaper than $7 and went down to the subway.
It was a great day outside so after Pride, we headed up to our roof deck to hang out for a while.

When Kalinda and Mike came to town

Kalinda and Mike came this past weekend to visit us. They got in on Friday and we hung out, had some vino (during the day!), did some shopping and went out for a bit that night. Saturday, we woke up and they wanted to go to the Farmer's Market at the Wharf. To get there, you have to go through the market that's there every day. We took them to our favorite stand:

Flat bottles are bottles that are flattened. I don't know why, but there they are!

Kalinda checked out some of the goods the peeps were peddling

Mike and LP checking the peeps out

I did not get to see the "Battle for the Best Burger" but it sure sounded delicious

This guy sold poems. You tell him a topic, any topic you want, and he would write a poem. I wanted my poem to be about poems.

All this produce was from California. Just in case you forgot.
Ghandi

This guy was shucking fresh oysters. It is really fascinating to watch people shuck an oyster. It would take me forever to do, I think.
Next, we walked down the pier towards Pier 39.

Guys breakdancin' on the pier. They weren't very good- but don't tell them I said that!
The street performers are really fascinating to me. I now think the clown guy is trying to tell silver man about how things go on the street. I later saw him yelling at another street man.
This poor kid was clearly not into being painted all silver with his dad. His dad was laying out how the performance was going to go down and the kid looked like he'd rather be doing anything else.
Gold man always dances to J-Tim. He looks just like him too- all gold and frilly and such.
I love trying on hats
Notice who's lounging on the right side of this?

Walking towards the sea lions!

Next, we headed over to Golden Gate Park. When we walked up, we saw a tranny fortune teller!

See the kite in the middle? It's as close as my lens would get!

It was a fun Saturday. Needless to say, we were exhausted when we finished our trip. We went home to rest for a bit because Sunday was..............PRIDE!!!!
