mr dean comes to washington

eric came to visit this weekend!!! we had so much fun, hanging out, eating, shopping and having cocktails. first up, shake shack:

and yes, i did eat a cheeseburger, fries AND a shake. boo-ya. i had a healthy appetite that evening. we went next door to eighteenth street lounge and then to russia house for cocktails. eric got some swirly, fruity drink (per usual):
we turned in early that night so we could get up and have brunch at kramerbooks. i love the concept of this place- it's a bookstore/lounge. you can read, you can eat and you can drink wine. it's packed, all the time. we started with strawberry mimosas and the boys had an obamlette while i enjoyed a waffle. delish!!!

next up: georgetown. eric has visited a few times before and he's never been to g-town (because i loathe going there on the weekends), so we decided to head there for some shopping.
after a few hours on the streets, we needed a rest (because we're old) so we went back to the house. eric played with weebay, lp made us fruity champagne cocktails and modeled his hat, and i took lots of pics.

scratch off tickets (nobody won anything)

that evening, we headed to cava for dinner. as i've said before, lp and i love this place and luckily, eric does too. it was supposed to just be a few of us, but some of our friends ended up coming and we had like 9 people.

after, we went out and about. first stop, lottery tickets. eric is apparently on a huge lotto kick and i have a dormant gambling addiction, so i'm always game for the lottery.

eric wanted to be the door guy, so he started checking ids.
capital at night

let's just say we all slept like rocks, but not for very long. the next morning, eric had been wanting to go to masa 14, which has an all you eat and all you can drink prix fixe menu, so off we went for some food. we started with blood orange mimosas (i clearly love champagne) and stayed for 2 1/2 hours. afterward, we headed for a few more cocktails at a local bar. this turned into me singing richard marx, some air guitar and too many miller lights.

the night ended at our house, watching the oscars, eating hummus and with me eventually falling asleep on the couch. at 830. what can i say- i need my rest. eric liked the hummus the best.
love ya, eric!!!!

working on my fitness

(this is how i picture myself running in the mornings)

the weather has been crazy warm this winter and it's really helped in keeping me on track health-wise. now, i'm not going to say i have the perfect body by any means, but i think i'm keeping it together for a 31 year old. there are a few things lately that have really seemed to help me drop a couple of pounds and feel great:

1. myfitnesspal: this is an app you can get that helps you track how many calories you eat, how many calories you burn from exercise and how much you should be eating to lose any lbs you want gone. i've never in my life counted calories, but getting older has made me come to the harsh realization that i'm not only going to have to work out,
but i can't eat like i used to. boooooo. one of the best things is that you can follow your friends and help motivate them (or vice versa!) via the website. if you join, find me "megcmoore"

2. breakfast: i've always eaten breakfast. always. i'm definitely really hungry in the mornings and afternoons and then barely hungry at night, so i've always chowed on breakfast. i have run the gamut on breakfast foods: cereal, muffins, eggs, oatmeal, waffles, etc. lately i think i've found the perfect combo to fill me up and keep me full for a while- 2 egg whites, one egg and a morningstar "sausage" patty. if you don't like soy meats, let me just say to try this one. lp tried it and he even likes it. today he told me it actually smelled like rea
l sausage in our house. haha-gotcha!

3. snacks: for the past ten years or so, i've been what my mom calls "a grazer." i prefer snacks to meals, apps to entrees, tapas to 10 course meals- you get the picture. some favorite snacks are:
-veggies and hummus: i really like this caramelized onion hummus because it almost tastes like a french onion dip. yum.
-trader joes dried fruit bars: so good, all natural and no extra sugar
-lower sugar oatmeal
-laughing cow cheese
-apples and pb (really just plain peanut butter will do it for me too)
4. yoga: i was doing a ton of yoga for a while but now that weebay is here, it's hard for me to leave him. i've started doing 30 minute yoga videos that i found on demand from our direct tv service, but i'm about to order these dvds. my yoga instructor that i LOVE got me into power yoga, which he based from baron baptiste's power yoga. i'm gonna check it out and let you know how it goes!!

lately

i feel like we've been so busy lately. this past weekend i had a work dinner (which was so fun, love those ladies!!), a birthday party and a house to clean for eric's arrival on friday. but at the same time, i do hate saying i'm "busy" as there are so many other people who are much busier than me. that being said, this is how we spend many evenings (when weebay isn't in monster mode):

i know, it's adorable. it was mike's bday last week. he's a valentine baby!!! so sweet! on saturday we went to dodge city on u st to celebrate. if you haven't been there, you should go. they have great music- downstairs it's usually old soul music and upstairs it's old rock and roll or rockabilly. lots of dancing was done and lots of fun went down!! the week before, some friends of ours had a 'lincoln party' where they celebrate lincoln. they hand out little gifts and this year's gift was a color changing lincoln cup. i decided to use this cup all night:
lp and mike
mike and i
me, blair, jj- hooray for fun!
blair and i- yes, i'm wearing glasses and yes, they are prescription. i'm super blind!!!
mike and blair

on another note, i took a crap load of pics with the fancy camera and can you guess my subject? um, yes, it's the pup. so stop looking if you're tired of seeing the most adorable dog in the world!!!

wrinkles and ears

this face kills me. i love it so much!!
