proud

i love pride weekend. for those of you who haven't ever been to a pride parade, it is amazing. there are beads, glitter, rainbows, water guns, candy, dancing, music and costumes. so kind of some of my favorite things. a few years ago, lp and i were in san francisco for pride and it was super fun crazy times (sf is like the pride of all prides). 

this year, we decided to walk down to the end of the parade in the hopes that it would be less crowded. can you say, old people? yeah, we are old like that. anyway, we headed out and it was so dead when we first got there. score. we found a lovely shady spot and settled in for the parade. later on, it got way crazier and more crowded (which meant it was time for us to go!) but it was quite nice at the beginning. 

now, dc pride always makes me laugh because it's so sterotypical of the city in general. there are total politics and politicians involved and it's a little stuffier than some of the other parades. overall, i love it though, seeing as it is what it is!!!

how does this garden grow?

i've been doing a little gardening. and by "a little" i mean that i planted these things and i water them. i did stake my tomatoes, trip back the leaves on some plants and pull a few weeds that had grown. that's it. here's what's been happening with all of the plants in my little backyard garden!!

geraniums- doing pretty good. their little yellow friends- not so much. in fact, it rained so much that they look like they drowned. but! you can see in the bottom of the picture that they are trying to grow back. i should probably trim off all the dead stuff, huh?

tomatoes- the plant actually broke and i staked it with a paint stirrer at first (hello, ghetto) until lp found these awesome stakes and ties to hold this guy up. i haven't seen one tomato growing until last night when i finally saw two little tiny green things starting to sprout. so, they're either tomatoes or tumors. 

 strawberries- oddly, these have been the easiest to grow. what's weird is that i've grown about 10 and only eaten one. some little creature keeps getting into the berries before they're ripe enough to pick and so i've only gotten to try one! but look at these little guys! they're super cute, even if i don't know what they taste like. 

herbs- going crazy. it looks like my hair when i don't dry it. wavy, straight, long, crazy. we've used the chives and rosemary with success. next year i am going to add some basil in there. 

weebay- this has nothing to do with the garden but i was cleaning the floors the other day and when i vacuum, weebay goes nuts chasing the vacuum all over. he always wants to stay in front of it and eventually ends up upstairs, giving it the stink eye. like this. 

favorite things

i'm super busy, super stressed and feeling super grouchy this week, so here are some of my favorite things that are getting me through the week:

1. favorite person- lp. duh. he's doing a nice job of making me laugh when i get too grumpy and giving me big hugs when i need them.

2. favorite animal- weebay. duh twice. last night he sniggled up in my neck while we slept and when i woke up, his big bug eyes were watching me. i love my little buddy.

3. favorite coffee- skinny vanilla lattes. it's been so nice outside this week (70s!) so i've been warming up with a hot coffee beverage and this is one of my favorites.

4. favorite shoes- been living in my navy saltwaters. they are so comfy and i can kick things if i feel like it without having them fly off my feet.

5. favorite day- next friday. i take off to see eric and kristen in san antonio! hooray for our friendcation!!!

strangers with weebay

this is a very special edition of strangers with weebay. it's like that 90210 episode about the drunk driving crash. so sad. anyway, last monday (memorial day) i was out walking weebay at 9am. a man approached me on a bike and began verbally harassing me. it escalated to him grabbing my butt, i screamed, he started chasing me and yelling at me. it kept on for a few blocks until i got to where people were and he sped off. 

i was really shaken up and ended up emailing the police (yay technology), who encouraged me to file a report. so tuesday night, a sweet policeman came to our house to file the report. 

weebay freaked out. he LOVED this guy, and another cop came too and he LOVED him also. it was hilarious. he actually tried to jump on the chair with the guy, didn't make it and bounced off the chair. the poor guy finally picked him up and weebay freaked out, licking his walkie talkie thing and just generally being the most excited puppy ever. he was so sad when everyone left, but lp and i were not.

this weekend was my little bitty cousin's graduation. he's got a full ride to unt to play football (offensive lineman), so you can imagine how "little" he actually is- ha! it was a great time with lots of family and too much food. 

i got upgraded on my flight home and i'm such a dork that i really wanted to take pictures. i got warm nuts, mimosas, a yummy salad, and a warm cookie! what?!?! awesome. lp picked me up and brought weebay so the tow of us had alittle love fest on the way home. i missed that pup!!

now is when i start bragging. when i got home, lp took me around the house. oh, that wonderful boy had been up to all kinds of stuff. he had gone to the store, put up blinds, put up all kinds of stuff on the walls and hooked up my new hose and hose keeper thing. i'm telling you, he's amazing. the house looks awesome and the best part is that he did it all while i was gone. plus! he gave weebay a bath so he'd smell nice for me. i mean, seriously. cannot get better.
