this weekend was my little bitty cousin's graduation. he's got a full ride to unt to play football (offensive lineman), so you can imagine how "little" he actually is- ha! it was a great time with lots of family and too much food. 

i got upgraded on my flight home and i'm such a dork that i really wanted to take pictures. i got warm nuts, mimosas, a yummy salad, and a warm cookie! what?!?! awesome. lp picked me up and brought weebay so the tow of us had alittle love fest on the way home. i missed that pup!!

now is when i start bragging. when i got home, lp took me around the house. oh, that wonderful boy had been up to all kinds of stuff. he had gone to the store, put up blinds, put up all kinds of stuff on the walls and hooked up my new hose and hose keeper thing. i'm telling you, he's amazing. the house looks awesome and the best part is that he did it all while i was gone. plus! he gave weebay a bath so he'd smell nice for me. i mean, seriously. cannot get better. 

here's my week in pics. i was super busy so didn't get too many. it feels like june is just going to be like that. busy. but i guess that's life for everyone in the summer!

bed time

we are 'those' people who let their dog sleep with them most of the time. now don't get me wrong, when he is being wiggly or crazy, we put him out of the room and he's more than happy to sleep in his bed. but for the most part we just let him sleep with us (this is definitely more me than lp!!!). 

he actually has two beds. one upstairs and one downstairs. recently, he's been going crazy over the bed downstairs. it al started when we got him a bone and he tried to hide it in the bed. he would dig and dig and dig around in it, trying to hide the bone from us. now, i have no clue why he does it!!! 

it's kind of funny so enjoy!!

trucko de mayo

saturday we went to trucko de mayo. lots of food trucks, beer and music. about the music, the "school of rock" kids were there and lp and i have randomly seen them a few times out and about. those kids have some guts!!! they're like a bunch of 12 year olds who get up and bust out some led zeppellin and rolling stones. i mean, i would never have done that when i was their age!!! so that was kind of cool. 

anyway, lots of food trucks. now, i have a mad obsession with the food trucks in dc. first, there are TONS of them! like, so many that lp will often come home and tell me about how he ate at a food truck he'd never heard of before. korean tacos, grilled cheese, lasagna, lobster rolls, burgers, salads, falafels- there are tons to choose from. second, i never get to eat them. downside of my job- no breaks to go grab lunch. so i never get a food truck. this only fuels my obsession!!! last, i really like the idea of food trucks. i think they're great for a place like dc, where there are a lot of people wandering around, many of them tourists wanting a quick bite to eat. 

so we went out to rfk stadium (which i had never really been to) for this food truck bonanza. it was cool. the weather was kind of nasty though, and lp and i were both feeling a little "bleh" so we didn't stay too long. but we took the dog and had a good time!!!

happy birthday, lp!!

it's lp's birthday. if you see him or know him, give him a shout out for his big day. in honor of my favorite person in the whole world, here are 5 things that i find amazingly awesome about him that i did not know when we started dating:

1. he loves the movie "dune." when we started dating i swore up and down that i hated science fiction movies and books (this has been proved to be completely and utterly untrue. in fact, i love that stuff.). he used to try to make me watch one of his favorite movies (dune) and i would fall asleep or beg off watching it that day. he's watched it so many times, he actually had it on vhs. yeah buddy.

2. he loves guns n roses. like, a lot. knows their catalog, band history and has bootlegs of some of their stuff. we had a 30 minute conversation about them on saturday (congrats on your induction to the hall of fame, guys).

3. he hates mayo. i can't say i blame him, but he also hates almost all things creamy (ew, i hate that word). cream cheese, yogurt, all of that stuff.

4. he knows so much stuff about politics. like, so much. i can't even wrap my brain around half of what he's holding in his noggin about history and politics. it's kind of amazing.

5. he loves our dog so much. it makes my heart happy to see them wrestling or snuggling together on the couch or in bed.

favorite things

1. favorite shoe: these minnetonka boots. totally see myself sporting them this summer.

2. favorite color: yellow. sunny weather makes me see yellow all over!!! add the beautiful tulips and daffodils and it's a yellow explosion!!

3. favorite sound: weebay snoring. i find it absolutely hysterical and adorable- lp finds it funny unless we are watching a movie and then he finds it annoying. hearing him snoring at night by my head (where he sleeps most nights) is so soothing. plus, when he's not on the bed, i always know where he is!!!

4. favorite piece of furniture that i don't own: i want this so bad for my bathroom. it would be perfect...except it's a little pricey for an old medicine cabinet.

5. favorite lunch: i keep making the same thing for lunch- a salad with beets, feta, cucumbers and lentils. i am IN LOVE with whole foods spicy tahini dressing and put that on top and talk about delicious!!!

7. favorite form of exercise: family walks with lp and weebay. last night we took a walk and chased each other in an empty field. it's a nice way for lp and i to talk about our day and weebay loves when we meet other dogs!! we've also met so many people in our neighborhood through the walks (and mainly, through weebay!!)

8. favorite treat: fruit with whipped cream. i'm a crazy whipped cream addict, but i make myself take breaks from it because i will eat an entire tub of the stuff, so i hadn't had it in a while. i recently bought some and man!! that stuff is so good!! lp laughs at me all the time because i'll put some in a bowl with fruit and then add about 3 more spoonfuls- you know, just so i have "enough."

9. favorite drink: trader joe's sparkling lime soda. this stuff is the bomb. if you have a trader joes close to you, go get some NOW.

10. favorite thing i'm about to get: new patio furniture. desperately needed at this house, as the stuff that was left here looks like termites, rats and possibly small dinosaurs had a party outside and ate half of the furniture.

this week

lp was gone this week and every time he's gone, there gets to be a point where i'm bored. that point came early this time, i think maybe because it was a 'short' trip (short trip for us is defined as under 2 weeks!!!). when i get bored, i usually clean, try to make something and burn it or myself and put on lots of different clothes.

lp is gone on a business trip. i say "business" but he's not really in business, so i guess i just mean work trip. anyway, every time he leaves it's a time of reflection for me. this time, i've been reflecting on how great it is when he's here. here are 5 things that i need lp here for:

1. turning on music. i never remember when i'm here by myself. i think because i work with kids who talk ALL. DAY. LONG. that when i come home i can sit in silence for hours. but i don't really think it's good for me, nor do i really enjoy it.

2. making me stay up later. i will always stay up a little later when lp is home so that we can talk or just hang out. when i'm by myself it's bedtime at 915, just because i'm bored.

3. calming me down. i'm prone to bouts of freaking out and i will make up things that i "need" to do, when it can usually wait until another time.

4. playing with weebay. that dog loves his play time with papa and although i will take him on walks and play with him, lp is so great at wrestling around with him and getting some energy out.

5. cooking. i don't do it. last night i had cheese and hummus for dinner. bo-ring.

so i am so glad he'll be back soon. life will go back to normal and this house won't be so quiet and i'll have my both my boys home with me!!!

weekend phone dump

this week i was really exhausted. i was going to say "for some reason," but the reason was eric's visit last weekend! we didn't do much of anything this week. both lp and i went to bed pretty early every night. he's been trying to go bed earlier, and if you know me, you know that i LOVE hitting the sack early since i get up so early to run. i had the absolute worst blisters on my heels from some shoes i wore last sunday. i mean, these suckers were so bad that people gasped when they saw them. and i couldn't run because of them. even with band aids. it was a dark week. anyway, they're finally healing some now so life is better. this weekend was just a recovery weekend. we did nothing and it was awesome. friday we hung out with weebay, saturday we ran errands and made chili and sunday we went on weebay's first super long successful walk. we met another dog who was named after a character in the wire too (wallace)!!!

this was the first monday holiday i've taken off in a while. i have no clue why i worked those stupid holidays in the first place, because today was amazing!! the weather was perfect, to start. some highlights:

-great run this morning

-target without a crowd

-cleaning the house with lp

-weebay's first dog park (ugh, so cute)

-tacos

if this is what monday holidays are like, sign me up.

my boyfriend is a ninja in the kitchen

lp and i don't really celebrate valentines day. i don't say that as a cynical lady who hates all things associated with love and holidays, but it's just us. i would feel silly if we did something fancy (and so would lp), we hate crowds and more than any of that, we celebrate our love everyday. now, if that doesn't sound hokey i don't know what does!!! but it's true. we do special things regularly, like go to a nice dinner or get a bottle of champagne or buy flowers for the house. that being said, we do have a valentines day tradition- we cook dinner, have a drink and watch tv or a movie. lately, i've become obsessed with pinterest (ohmylooitsinsane) and i came up with a way to incorporate lp into my obsession. every week we are having what i call "the top chef iron kitchen ninja" competition. i pick a meal based on pinterest and get all the ingredients and then the day of, he looks at the recipe and cooks it. if you know us, you know that i do not ever cook. it scares me and stresses me out and i hate it. but i do love to pick out recipes and eat and lp likes to cook, so it's all good. tonight was the first challenge and he really did a wonderful job!!! i mean, i did a great job of picking everything out, but since he cooked it, i do have to give him the kitchen ninja credit. when i came home, i sat down with the little rascal as i answered some emails. he helped.

ugh, he's amazing. the last ones were personal favorites, as i hate roses and these are not roses but at the same time are reminiscent of roses. so pretty and that man is so sweet. in the kitchen, this was happening.
weebay and i waited patiently for the food to be finished. he slept. (i want to eat those little wrinkles for dinner)

i drank wine.

until it was done. um, can you see the deliciousness??? i feel like my selection was spot on and of course, his cooking was perfect!

our newest addition

we weren't going to do it. we were going to wait for a few months. but then, it happened. we found the most perfect one of all and it was all over. i was looking on the internet on friday night, just looking for a breeder who might be breeding french bulldogs in the next few months. but then, i saw him. the perfect puppy. lp and i talked about it and decided that if this one puppy was still available, it was meant to be and we would get him. i emailed the breeder and heard nothing that night. i woke up saturday- nothing. i decided to call them and leave a message (i REALLY wanted this puppy)- nothing. we went and ran errands saturday and then decided to stay in that night. at 9, i was updating the blog when my phone rang. guess who-the breeder!!! the puppy was ABOUT to be sold, but she checked her email and saw that i had emailed first so she called to see if i wanted him. he was the runt of the litter and almost died when he was born- she had to carry him in a pouch for TWO WEEKS so he would get healthy. we immediately put a deposit, deciding to come visit him on sunday but leaving him there and coming back the following friday. when lp and i woke up sunday, we knew we would not be leaving the place without him. so, let me introduce you to our sweet little guy weebay (named after my favorite drug dealing, fish loving, hired killer on "the wire").
