favorite things

i'm super busy, super stressed and feeling super grouchy this week, so here are some of my favorite things that are getting me through the week:

1. favorite person- lp. duh. he's doing a nice job of making me laugh when i get too grumpy and giving me big hugs when i need them.

2. favorite animal- weebay. duh twice. last night he sniggled up in my neck while we slept and when i woke up, his big bug eyes were watching me. i love my little buddy.

3. favorite coffee- skinny vanilla lattes. it's been so nice outside this week (70s!) so i've been warming up with a hot coffee beverage and this is one of my favorites.

4. favorite shoes- been living in my navy saltwaters. they are so comfy and i can kick things if i feel like it without having them fly off my feet.

5. favorite day- next friday. i take off to see eric and kristen in san antonio! hooray for our friendcation!!!

favorite things

it's summer time. for me, that means dresses and tons of them. i love all kinds of dresses, although the laid back, austinite in me will always go for a longer dress as opposed to anything short. there's just something about a cool breeze blowing through a long dress that does it for me. these are some of my favorites right now. in doing this, i can see that not only do i have a thing for long dresses, but apparently stripes/chevron patterns.

favorite things

i used to not like ice cream very much. then i had gelato and i became obsessed with the stuff. the other night, lp was making me a delicious tofu stir fry but we had no tofu so he went to the store. he came back with this stuff. it is so freaking delicious. we had the caramel cookie crunch and i'm telling you, yum. unfortunately, i cannot eat this every day or i would weigh 500 pounds. but if i could, i'd do it. it's delicious and they have all kinds of amazing sounding flavors (i want to try the banana chocolate swirl or black raspberry chocolate chip). so seriously, find out where you can get it and go buy some. it's that good. 

favorite things

1. favorite shoe: these minnetonka boots. totally see myself sporting them this summer.

2. favorite color: yellow. sunny weather makes me see yellow all over!!! add the beautiful tulips and daffodils and it's a yellow explosion!!

3. favorite sound: weebay snoring. i find it absolutely hysterical and adorable- lp finds it funny unless we are watching a movie and then he finds it annoying. hearing him snoring at night by my head (where he sleeps most nights) is so soothing. plus, when he's not on the bed, i always know where he is!!!

4. favorite piece of furniture that i don't own: i want this so bad for my bathroom. it would be perfect...except it's a little pricey for an old medicine cabinet.

5. favorite lunch: i keep making the same thing for lunch- a salad with beets, feta, cucumbers and lentils. i am IN LOVE with whole foods spicy tahini dressing and put that on top and talk about delicious!!!

7. favorite form of exercise: family walks with lp and weebay. last night we took a walk and chased each other in an empty field. it's a nice way for lp and i to talk about our day and weebay loves when we meet other dogs!! we've also met so many people in our neighborhood through the walks (and mainly, through weebay!!)

8. favorite treat: fruit with whipped cream. i'm a crazy whipped cream addict, but i make myself take breaks from it because i will eat an entire tub of the stuff, so i hadn't had it in a while. i recently bought some and man!! that stuff is so good!! lp laughs at me all the time because i'll put some in a bowl with fruit and then add about 3 more spoonfuls- you know, just so i have "enough."

9. favorite drink: trader joe's sparkling lime soda. this stuff is the bomb. if you have a trader joes close to you, go get some NOW.

10. favorite thing i'm about to get: new patio furniture. desperately needed at this house, as the stuff that was left here looks like termites, rats and possibly small dinosaurs had a party outside and ate half of the furniture.

spring favorites

ah, spring. even though i still have to wear a jacket and closed toe shoes in dc because i'm chilly, i'm fantasizing about warmer weather. one of my favorite things about spring is breaking out of those warm, bulky clothes and busting out lighter and fewer clothes. here are some things i'm dying for this spring.

1. floral prints: love the look of little flowers on fabric, particularly this first skirt. it reminds me a little of when i was in middle school, as there were tons of floral prints at that time. i had a pretty sweet skirt and vest combo back then. ahhhh, the early 90s.

2. coral and mint: hooray for people getting creative with colors!! i'm not a big pink girl and i feel like people love pink in the spring. coral is one of my favorite colors to wear ever (actually, i love oranges in general) and i'm so happy it's coming out this spring. mint is another color that hasn't gotten the love as much until now and i have to say i think it's a nice spin on pastels.

3. gingham: yay country-chic! gingham reminds me of picnics and lemonade. speaking of, i need both of those things.

4. lace: gah, i love some lace. it's so lady-like but kind of naughty since you can see through it. i just got a sweet lace top at forever 21 (don't judge- that place is awesome for trends and when you're broke) and i'm so pumped to bust it out.

5. colored denim: this has been happening all this fall and winter, but i really like the bright colors that people have now. i mean, even target jumped on this train!!!

favorite things: rain edition

it's been raining here a lot lately. although in reality i do not like the rain, my head always creates something fantastic involving rain. i think it all starts with one of the best movies ever. the part with gene kelley dancing in the rain is so magical to me. i still get all goos bumpy when i watch it!! i can imagine lovely rain dances with lp or my friends, pretty umbrellas, lovely rainboots (i do love me some hunters!!!), beautiful rainbows. when i was little, i would dress up, paint my face (it's true, i did that) and run out in the rain with my little pink striped umbrella and do rain dances. these days, i enjoy the rain if i don't have to go anywhere but hate it when i have to go to work. i still love stomping around in puddles, although these days i have traded in my umbrella for a raincoat for practical reasons (small sidewalks=umbrella agony!). here are some of my favorite things, rain edition!!!

friday favorites

1. favorite thing to look forward to: this trip.

i cannot wait until i can hang out with my two favorite friends (minus lp, of course)!!! big k will actually be "big" k when i see her, as she will be about to pop out a little peanut. i can't wait to rub on her belly and hug on sweet eric.

i can't do it. yet. but i WILL figure this out. my hair is always dying for ways to get up and out of my face in the summer!!!

3. favorite nails:

going to get a mani/pedi on sunday and i do believe this color is in my future so nails, get ready!!!

4. favorite clothing: maxi skirts and dresses. just wore this bad boy yesterday and i love it. can't wait to bust out more long dresses and skirts!!

feeling it

it is almost 80 here in dc today. i'm. freaking. out. i love warm weather. i also love cold weather. i just love that the seasons change frequently so i have a chance to love them all!! this lovely weather has really got me wishing for summer time, so i thought i'd get together some of my favorite warm weather things!!!!
